This is my absolute favourite thing to do in January. Anyone that knows me will tell you that I love nothing more than looking at where I want to go on holiday. I use January to look at when I can travel, where I’d like to go and then I get planning. Below are the places that I’d love to try and visit this year, there are three countries I’ve not yet visited so hopefully I’ll succeed in completing my first new years resolution.
One of my best friends spends a lot of time in South Africa, I have heard so much about it from her and our friend who lives there. I can’t wait to go, I want to see the stars up close like they’ve described to me. I’m hoping to do a two-part trip so that I’m able to take in a safari (I LOVE giraffes) and also visit Cape Town, including a hike up Table Mountain.
It’s almost a sin that I’m going to be 30 this year and am yet to go to Ibiza. I don’t plan on doing the club side of the island but more the laid-back hippie side with beach bars and chilled music, sipping on sangria, whilst watching the sun go down. I have been threatening to go for the past couple of years and I’m determined to make it happen this year. I’d love nothing more than getting my girlfriends together and renting a nice villa. Watch this space!
My boyfriend is Irish and as well as visiting his family over the past couple of years I’ve also had the pleasure of going to Dublin on tour a few times. However, I have never really ventured too far outside of County Dublin. He’s been saying to me since we got together that he’d love to show me the West Coast of Ireland, I’ve seen some photos and it’s stunning, full of natural beauty. We’re hoping to do a road trip across 5 days to take this all in.
I have had the opportunity to travel to Los Angeles a number of times with my job. I haven’t been for nearly two years now though and I’m having major withdrawals and feel in need of some Californian positivity and sunshine! As well as visiting Los Angeles I’m also hoping to do a mini road-trip out to Big Sur. I’m not sure of the plan as yet for when I make it out there – there’s some incredible hotels such as the Post Ranch Inn and the Ventana Inn & Spa but part of me also wants to rent a VW camper and do it rustically, my friends did this last year and the instagram pics were to die for! I’ve found this great company who rent old school campers, Vintage Safari Wagons which seem perfect.
Venice is always in the Top 10 on the list of ‘places you have to visit before you die’! I’m yet to go and have it firmly on my list for this year. I missed out on a work trip there 5 years or so ago as my best friend was getting married and have been told ever since about how magical of a place it is. I think we often take for granted living in Britain how amazing it is to have Europe on our doorstep. I was speaking with a friend of mine in America recently and she’s planning a 6 week vacation this summer to take in all the various cities and countries, we’re so lucky to be able to do trips to these incredible places in just a weekend.
