Getting Summer Ready

26th June 2016

With Summer on the horizon now is the time when I try to switch up my beauty routine in a hope to achieve dewy, fresh and hydrated skin free of any winter dryness. I’m jetting off on holiday in just over a week so really have all of these products on overdrive to get my skin and hair ready for the sun!

Origins By All Greens || containing superfoods; spinach, green tea and spirulina (but not to drink or eat) for your face! This new cleansing mask from Origins is a total game changer, the nutrient rich ingredients which are all known for their detoxing values unclogs pores and deeply cleanses without stripping skin. I love a product which foams up like this does too, it really makes me feel like it’s working.

Origins Maskimizer || the first of of its type, a primer for masks! I mean, why not right? The idea of the maskimizer is that it preps, primes and optimises skin for the mask to follow. I don’t think I use masks enough so to think that they’re having a better effect if you use this first totally sold me. My favourite thing is that it doesn’t add any extra time really, you spritz on clean skin allow it to dry and then mask up!

Kiehls Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser || I stayed at a friends apartment on my last visit to New York and this was in her shower, I tried it and have been in love ever since. This is the first product I’ve found that I can use daily without any drying implications. I go to the gym a lot and I really trust this to clean my face properly. Its super simple, you apply it and wash it off in the shower. And it literally leaves your skin squeaky clean!

REN Flash Defence || a mist which creates an invisible protective barrier to shield and protect the skin from the ageing effects of pollution. I live and breath London air 24/7 so when I saw this product I just had to get it. It works by strengthening the skins natural defences, leaving the skin brighter and more radiant.

Kate Somerville Exfolikate || first things first, this is ridiculously expensive given it’s size. But it is seriously good. It really tingles almost to the point of stinging, a sure fire sign that it’s working! It smells like Christmas and leaves skin super smooth and bright. Simple to use too, I just wet my face and apply before jumping in the shower and rinsing off.

James Read H2O tan mist || I am not one for fake tanning, I always worry that I’ll end up streaky and blotchy so never really attempt to tan myself. This is where this product comes in. It’s clear and the best thing is it’s more or less odourless. You simply spritz it over your face after moisturising in the morning, allow it to dry and then apply your make-up like normal. I’ve been using it for the past couple of weeks and have developed a lovely overall colour. I’ll definitely be packing this in my suitcase too as I always wear factor 50 on my face so this will help my face stay the same colour as my body!!

Tom Ford Soleil Blanc || the smell of summer in a bottle. This perfume brings back all sorts of childhood memories for me. It’s a mix of sun cream, sea salt and coconut and is absolutely divine. And just look at the bottle, how gorgeous is that, it’s literally transformed my dressing table which is a good job as it’s cha-ching!!!!!!

Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Body || photoshopping in a tube! This is the a-list’s go to product for the runway and red carpet. It lengthens and leans limbs . You just apply a line down the front of your legs and blend in. Quite how it works is magic to me but it does!

Better You Magnesium Flakes || if you’re working out a lot like me to try and get that summer body these bath salts will feel like a gift from god. I think this is the best product I’ve ever found for soothing sore muscles. You pop them in the bath, they dissolve almost instantly and then just jump in and soak for 20mins while they work their magic. I always pop a nice smelling bath foam in with them too as they don’t smell.

Frank Coffee Scrub || the perfect solution for getting scaly legs back to their glory before bare leg season comes around in full force. It smells good enough to eat and works wonders from the first use. A week after using this and you’ll be ready to get your legs out in that short skirt! Everybody needs some tough love sometimes…just be warned though, this will leave your bath or shower looking like a coffee murder has happened, so make sure you rinse it quickly!

Palmers Cocoa Butter || a good old faithful. It’s cheap and does exactly what it says, moisturises! This product is really rich and creamy which I love as I feel that my body really has to work to absorb it. It’s got such a luxurious feel yet is a totally affordable price and leaves skin soft and silky smooth.

Bumble & Bumble Don’t Blow It (H)air Styler || this is the best product I’ve found in a long time. It really helps achieve that tousled, just off the beach texture. The cherry on top is that it’s super easy. You literally apply it to towel dried hair and leave it. My trick is to brush hair before washing, once the product is in, part the hair and leave to dry. The less you touch it until it’s dry the better. Quite often I wash my hair before bed and then go to sleep with it still damp, it creates the best textured, bed head hair.

Percy & Reed Dry Shampoo || firstly, how cute are the Percy & Reed products? I love the ladies on their packaging…this dry shampoo is a godsend, it instantly transforms a bad hair day into a good one and will keep your blow dry going for days! My favourite thing about this dry shampoo is that it doesn’t leave a powdery white residue like so many do and it smells good. The fact that it comes in a handbag size is every girls dream!

Oribe Soft Dry Conditioner || I live by this product in the summer. My hair is super dry anyway and with the heat of the summer it gets ever drier. This helps to keep it soft and silky between washes. It’s designed to hydrate and revitalise and it manages to do so without weighing down the hair. One word; LOVE!

Kérastase Chroma Riche || this is one of the best shampoo + conditioners I’ve used in a long time. It’s really light, leaves no residue and your hair feels super clean. Specifically for highlighted and colour treated hair it helps reduce breakage by keeping hair supple and moisturised.

Kérastase Elixir Ultimé || my go to everytime I wash my hair. The way I know this product works is that I can tell when I don’t use it! A complex of four different oils, the main benefit being hydration for me but it also protects and maximises shine.
